Akira Hosoda joined San Francisco-based Allspring Global Investments' newly opened Tokyo office as Japan representative and country head.
A spokeswoman for the firm said the office will focus on sales and client service.
Mr. Hosoda comes to Allspring from Nissay Asset Management where he served as an executive management director responsible for product development and introducing overseas investment capabilities to Japan, the news release said.
A Nissay spokesman couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
As of June 30, Allspring and its affiliates had $476 billion in assets under management.
