Matt Christensen was named global head of sustainable and impact investing at Allianz Global Investors, a spokeswoman said.
Starting in December and based in Paris, Mr. Christensen will take over the responsibilities of chief sustainability officer Beatrix Anton-Groenemeyer, who is retiring. He will also oversee the firm's impact investments and lead the integration of environment, social and governance factors across private and public market strategies.
"We are delighted to be welcoming Matt Christensen to Allianz Global Investors. His reputation in impact and responsible investing, together with his entrepreneurial spirit, make him a great fit for us and the direction we are committed to taking our client offering," Deborah Zurkow, global head of investments for AllianzGI, said in a news release Thursday.
Allianz Global Investors had €538 billion ($605.1 billion) in assets under management as of June 30.
Mr. Christensen was head of responsible investment and impact strategy at AXA Investment Managers. An AXA spokeswoman said that Mr. Christensen will not be replaced. "We would like to thank him for his commitment and energy he has put into conveying our convictions on responsible investment and wish him the very best for the future," an emailed statement said.
