Giles Money was named CIO for a new global sustainability equity team at Allianz Global Investors, a spokeswoman said.
Mr. Money, who will join the firm in August, will lead a new equity team that will be fully focused on global sustainable investments and sustainable responsible investments.
"I have been fortunate enough to work with Giles before on two occasions, so know first-hand his quality as an investor," Virginie Maisonneuve, global CIO equity and managing director, said in a news release Thursday. "I am excited to be welcoming him to AllianzGI to lead the new team as we place ever greater emphasis on sustainable investment opportunities for our diverse range of clients. I am confident they will be a success in their own right; complementary to other teams with distinct styles; and positive contributors to the sharing of investment ideas across the platform."
Allianz Global Investors had €514 billion ($559 billion) in assets under management as of March 31.
Mr. Money was a portfolio manager at Sarasin and Partners. A spokeswoman said that Jerry Thomas, CIO, global equities, will become the lead manager of the Sarasin Thematic Global Equity Fund and Sarasin Responsible Global Equity Fund following Mr. Money's departure.
