Virginie Maisonneuve joined Allianz Global Investors as global CIO equity, leading the firm's €160 billion ($195.1 billion) offering.
Ms. Maisonneuve replaced Steven J. Berexa, who will retire at the end of the year.
AllianzGI's regional equity CIOs and CIOs for systematic and global equity will report to Ms. Maisonneuve, as will the global head of product specialists for equity, a spokeswoman confirmed. She also becomes a member of the firm's investment executive committee and international management group.
The equity platform has 200 investment professionals in nine locations.
Ms. Maisonneuve will relocate to London from Singapore in the fall. She reports to Deborah Zurkow, global head of investments.
"When it came to finding a successor to Steve, we sought someone of the highest caliber to ensure that our investment capability and offering develops ahead of the market," Ms. Zurkow said in a news release. "Virginie fits the bill perfectly: Her breadth of experience, record of highly relevant innovation and global, forward-looking outlook means she is strongly positioned to help us in the development of our client offering — in equity but also as part of the leadership team of the firm."
Ms. Maisonneuve's Singapore-based consulting firm, Ajiliti Partners, will be shut down, she confirmed in a message. She was CIO at Eastspring Investments until January 2020.
