Carlos Carranza was named director, senior investment strategist, for the emerging markets debt team at Allianz Global Investors.
It is a new position, a spokesman said in an email. Mr. Carranza is based in New York and reports to Richard House, chief investment officer for emerging markets debt.
Mr. Carranza, who joined AllianzGI on Monday, will provide ESG, macroeconomic and political analysis of Latin American countries and maintain models of those analyses for portfolio monitoring and positioning, a news release said.
He previously led the Latin America foreign exchange and local rates strategy team in the emerging markets research group at J.P. Morgan Chase Bank.
As of March 31, Allianz Global Investors had €598 billion ($702 billion) in assets under management.
