Vishal Sharma was named institutional director for Australia and New Zealand in the Australian distribution team at Aberdeen Standard Investments.
Mr. Sharma replaced Kate Hillyar, who transferred to the firm's U.K. office last year as senior business development director in the U.K. institutional team, a spokeswoman said.
Mr. Sharma is based in Sydney and is responsible for expanding on ASI's relationships with institutional investors, including superannuation funds and insurance companies in Australia and New Zealand.
He reports to Andrew Hendry, head of distribution for Asia-Pacific, and to Brett Jollie, managing director for Australia.
"His appointment signals our commitment to investing in our business and growing our presence in Australia and New Zealand, as we continue to provide institutional investors with a broad spectrum of global investment capabilities and ESG-embedded solutions to help them navigate the challenging markets and invest for a better future," Mr. Jollie said.
Aberdeen Standard Investments had £486.5 billion ($638.1 billion) in assets under management as of Dec. 31.
Mr. Sharma was at investment consultant bfinance, supporting institutional; investors with implementing investment strategies, a news release by ASI said. His title and details on a replacement were not available.
