Sadayuki Takahashi joined Aberdeen Standard Investments in Tokyo as deputy head of Japan, effective Tuesday.
The position is new. Mr. Takahashi will work with Ken Yajima, the firm's CEO and representative director, to expand its business in Japan, which an Aberdeen Standard news release called a "strategic growth market" for the firm.
A spokeswoman for Aberdeen Standard declined to provide details on the size of the firm's business in Japan. Aberdeen Standard had $562.9 billion in assets under management as of June 30.
Mr. Takahashi joined from Schroders Japan, where he was chief operating officer of distribution and head of product development.
A Schroders spokesman could not immediately be reached for comment.
