Milbrey "Casey" Jones, a longtime institutional marketer in the institutional investing industry, died at age 78 of cancer on June 5, said his son, Brey Jones, a director at StepStone Group.
Casey Jones was a co-founder senior partner at investment consultant Maybridge Partners, and was also president emeritus of the State Association of County Retirement Systems in California, where he served as president in 2006 and 2007.
He was also chairman of the investment committee of the $2.6 billion Marin County Employees' Retirement Association, San Rafael, Calif.
A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Jones was also a former partner at hedge fund Salus Capital Management and senior vice-president and director of marketing specializing in Taft-Hartley and public pension plans at Siebel Capital Management.
His son said in an email that Mr. Jones "paved the way and mentored hundreds of industry folks over the years" and "had a greater love for this business than anyone I have ever met."
Mr. Jones is survived by his wife Jan, two children and five grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will take place in August or September in San Francisco, Brey Jones said.
