John F. Powers, former Stanford Management Co. president and CEO, has died at age 67.
Mr. Powers, who oversaw the management of the university's then-$21.4 billion endowment and other trust assets for eight years until departing in 2014, died July 13, according to an online memorial.
A cause of death was not provided. Before joining Stanford Management Co., he served as managing director, director of research and member of the investment and management committee at Offit Hall Capital Management, according to a biography on Stanford's website.
Before joining Offit Hall Capital in 2002, Mr. Powers was managing director and director of research at Robertson Stephens, and before then had multiple positions in marketing communications and consulting.
Mr. Powers received his A.B. from Cornell University in 1975 and an MBA from the Graduate School of Business in Stanford University in 1983.
Survivor information was not immediately available. A memorial for Mr. Powers was held July 30.
