Michael Obhof was named managing director, U.S., at Ardian Infrastructure.
Based in New York, it is a newly created position, a spokesman said in an email.
Mr. Obhof will identify new opportunities for Ardian's North American portfolio in high-quality direct control investments in core infrastructure, the spokesman said.
He reports to Mathias Burghardt, Paris-based head of Ardian Infrastructure.
Mr. Obhof was vice president for the infrastructure investing group in Goldman Sachs Group's merchant banking division, confirmed Goldman Sachs spokeswoman Leslie Shribman.
Ardian Infrastructure has $16 billion in assets under management.
