Texas Teacher Retirement System, Austin, committed a total of $765 million to six alternative investment strategies in October, a transaction from the $155.2 billion system showed.
It committed a total of $400 million to two strategies from the system's $8 billion energy/natural resources/infrastructure portfolio: $250 million to EQT Infrastructure V (No. 2), a focus focused on international developed markets run by EQT Fund Management, and $150 million to Actis Energy 5, which will target electricity projects in emerging markets.
In private equity, $365 million was committed to four strategies as part of the $21.7 billion private equity/venture capital portfolio.
The largest commitment of $200 million was to EQT IX (No. 2) USD, a large buyout fund that will seek opportunities in international developed markets.
TRS committed $100 million to GTCR XIII/A&B, a large buyout strategy focused on U.S. companies, and $40 million to Bridgepoint Development Capital IV, a pan-European lower-middle-market buyout fund. It also committed $25 million to OMNIA Coinvest, a large buyout strategy focused on U.S. investment opportunities managed by Leonard Green & Partners.
