San Joaquin County Employees' Retirement Association, Stockton, Calif., hired GQG Partners to manage $50 million in active emerging markets equities.
The $3.1 billion pension fund’s board approved the hiring at its Aug. 14 meeting, CEO Johanna Shick said in an email.
Ms. Shick said the hiring was the result of a restructuring of the pension fund's global equity portfolio. She did not provide further information.
According to SJCERA’s most recent investment report, Pacific Investment Management Co. was the pension fund’s sole emerging markets equity manager, with an $83 million portfolio as of June 30.
