Maria Ryan was named head of institutional sales for the U.K., Scandinavia and the Middle East at HSBC Global Asset Management, a spokeswoman said.
The position is new. Ms. Ryan will be responsible for developing and growing client relationships in the U.K., Scandinavia and the Middle East, effective April 22. She will report to Brian Heyworth, global head of institutional business.
"Maria is an experienced business leader with a demonstrated history of success within the asset management industry. I look forward to welcoming her to the team and I'm confident that she'll play an invaluable role in the strategic and commercial development of our institutional business," Mr. Heyworth said Monday in a news release.
HSBC Global Asset Management had $510 billion in assets under management as of Dec. 31.
Ms. Ryan was head of U.K. and head of U.K. and Nordics distribution at DWS Group. Roelfien Kuijpers, head of responsible investment and strategic relationships, took over Ms. Ryan's responsibilities when she left the firm at the end of July, according to an internal note shared by DWS at the time.
