Gregory Samorajski was named CEO of Iowa Public Employees’ Retirement System, said a news release issued by Gov. Kim Reynolds.
Effective May 1, he replaces Donna M. Mueller, who will retire.
Mr. Samorajski will head up the $34 billion Des Moines-based state pension plan. His appointment is subject to confirmation by the Iowa Senate.
Mr. Samorajski was deputy commissioner of the Alaska Department of Revenue, where he managed the staff of the $33.6 billion Alaska Retirement Management Board, Juneau. He was replaced by Mike Barnhill, who had been serving as acting commissioner of revenue, said Genevieve Wojtusik, legislative liaison for the Alaska Department of Revenue.
