Michael Smarik was named deputy administrator of the $11.2 billion Arizona Public Safety Personnel Retirement System, Phoenix.
He replaces Dave DeJonge, who retired in November, spokesman Christian Palmer said in an email.
Mr. Smarik, who reports to Michael Townsend, administrator, was previously interim state comptroller for the state of Arizona and before that was deputy state comptroller with the Arizona Department of Administration.
