Vincent Lu was named co-head of private strategies at Wells Fargo Asset Management, spokeswoman Jeanette D. Foster confirmed in an email.
It is a new position. Mr. Lu joins existing private strategies co-head Brian Van Elslander, who has been head of the practice since it was launched last year.
Messrs. Lu and Van Elslander will jointly develop WFAM's private credit business unit. They will both report to Kirk Hartman, president and global chief investment officer of WFAM.
Mr. Lu was a managing director and senior investment professional within Blackstone Group's credit business, GSO Capital Partners. Blackstone spokeswoman Kate Holderness declined to comment.
WFAM had $476 billion in AUM as of March 31.
