David Knibbe was named CEO of NN Group, a spokeswoman said.
Mr. Knibbe will replace Lard Friese effective Oct.1, subject to regulatory approvals.
Mr. Friese stepped down Monday to join Aegon. He will join the company as CEO-designate effective March 1, and succeed Alex Wynaendts at the annual general meeting to be held on May 15, Aegon said in a statement released Monday.
"(Mr. Friese) over the years, he has done an outstanding job, leading the company through the separation from ING Group, the IPO process of NN Group, and the acquisition of Delta Lloyd and the announced acquisition of VIVAT Non-life," David Cole, chairman of the supervisory board of NN Group, said in a news release Monday. "His drive and focus on performance, combined with his commitment to serving the long-term interests of the company, were important in shaping NN Group as the strong international player it is today."
Mr. Knibbe joined the money management business of ING Group in 1997 was later responsible for the ING international insurance businesses. He was appointed CEO of NN Netherlands, a subsidiary of NN Group, in 2014.
