James Elliot was named head of multiasset at Investec Asset Management, a spokeswoman said.
The position is new. Mr. Elliot will start in July and will oversee all of Investec's investment solutions and new strategies. He will report to Domenico Ferrini, co-CEO and co-CIO.
"(Mr. Elliot) brings with him a wealth of invaluable portfolio management, product and leadership experience, which will help to take our multiasset investment capability to the next level and allows us to compete meaningfully on a global stage," Mr. Ferrini said in a news release.
Mr. Elliot was managing director and international CIO for multiasset solutions at J.P. Morgan Asset Management. Rob O'Rahilly, co-head of multiasset solutions took over Mr. Elliot's international investment oversight responsibilities.
Investec had $133.7 billion in assets under management as of Dec. 31.
