Two U.K. money managers are showing support for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex communities in the U.K.
Kames Capital and Aegon U.K. again decided this year to sponsor the Edinburgh and Essex Pride events, annual celebrations held by and for LGBTI communities across U.K. cities.
The two money managers already have some experience with the festivals. Kames and Aegon have already sponsored Edinburgh Pride, Scotland's national LGBTI festival, twice. During the festival, launched in 1995 and relaunched in 2015, a cross-city march is held in celebration of personal identity and diversity.
For the second time, Kames and Aegon are also sponsoring Essex Pride, which takes place in Chelmsford, England. The annual celebration began in 2003. Aimed at equality, diversity and inclusion, the festival in Essex county was even a factor in Chelmsford being granted city status in 2012 by Queen Elizabeth II, according to the festival's website.
"We really want to be seen as an inclusive employer and that we provide a safe environment," said Ross Bradley, Edinburgh-based head of investment support, Europe at Aegon Asset Management, parent company of Kames Capital.
Mr. Bradley added: "We make (Pride) into a company event," saying that "last year some 25 employees attended in Edinburgh and some 30 attended in Chelmsford."
The Pride festivals will be held June 15 in Chelmsford and June 22 in Edinburgh. — Paulina Pielichata
