Yoon Pyo Lee joined Morgan Stanley Investment Management in Seoul as a managing director and head of South Korea, the firm said Tuesday.
The position is new, a Hong Kong-based spokesman for MSIM said.
Mr. Lee comes to MSIM from Seoul-based Truston Asset Management, where he served as senior executive vice president and co-CEO. Before moving to Truston, Mr. Lee held senior investment positions at Korea's 667.4 trillion won ($569 billion) National Pension Service.
A Truston spokesman didn't respond to an emailed request for comment.
