In hiring activity, $56.6 billion was at stake in the second quarter, up 15.9% from the previous quarter and up 0.5% from the second quarter of 2014. Several alternatives funds raised significant capital in the quarter, including Blackstone Capital Partners VII, which raised more than $2 billion, and TPG's Partners VII fund, $750 million. The Virginia Retirement System, New York State Common Retirement Fund and Teacher Retirement System of Texas each committed more than more than $1 billion to private equity. Private equity fundraising was way up, with more than $15.5 billion in commitments in the quarter.
