John Mendell was named director at Tennenbaum Capital Partners, said spokeswoman Jessica Ekeberg in an e-mail.
It is a new position. Mr. Mendell will be responsible for “developing and enhancing” the firm’s relationship with institutional investors, said a news release from the alternatives money manager. He will work in TCP’s Los Angeles office.
“John brings a wealth of experience in fund marketing and business development across the United States and Canada that will augment TCP’s growing global investor relations team,” said Lee Landrum, partner at TCP, in the news release. Mr. Mendell will report to Mr. Landrum.
Previously, Mr. Mendell was a principal at Ares Management where he focused on business development with institutional investors and consultants in North America. An Ares Management spokesman could not immediately be reached for additional information.
