Daniel McManus was named senior director of investments for Orbital ATK, Dulles, Va. a news release said.
The company was formed by a merger of ATK, formerly Alliant Techsystems Inc., Arlington, Va., and Orbital Services Corp., Dulles, Va., which was completed in March. Mr. McManus will oversee the company’s retirement plan investments.
Judith Mares, former vice president and chief investment officer at ATK, left in 2013 to become deputy assistant secretary of labor for the Employee Benefits Security Administration, and her duties were being handled by others on the investment staff at ATK’s Minneapolis office.
Previously, Mr. McManus was pension investment coordinator for the Air Line Pilots Association in Herndon, Va. Calls to ALPA were not returned at press time.
The ATK 401(k) plan had $2 billion in assets as of Dec. 31, 2014, according to its most recent 5500 filing.
ATK’s two defined benefit plans — with a total of about $2.2 billion in assets, according to Pensions & Investments data — were closed to new participants as of January 2007.
Orbital Services Corp. 401(k) plan had $780 million as of Dec. 31, 2014.
