San Francisco City & County Employees' Retirement System might search for a general investment consultant within the next few months, said Norm Nickens, board secretary.
The $18.6 billion pension fund was due to discuss issuing an RFP at its board of trustees meeting on March 12, but the discussion to approve the RFP was tabled to a future meeting.
Mr. Nickens said the contract expired last year and is currently under a one-year renewal. It is the pension fund's policy to put services up for bid every five years. Current consultant Angeles Investment Advisors would be invited to rebid.
Separately, the pension fund committed up to $50 million to private equity fund ABRY Advanced Securities Fund III, the 11th time the pension fund has made a commitment to an ABRY Partners fund. The most recent commitment was $30 million to ABRY Senior Equity IV in November 2012.
The pension fund also committed up to $25 million to venture capital fund GGV Capital V, a first-time commitment to the manager.
