Roy Gillson, a former chief investment officer at AXA Investment Managers and the first chairman of the board of Universities Superannuation Scheme Investment Management, has died at age 60.
Mr. Gillson, who died of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, joined the £36 billion ($57 billion) Universities Superannuation Scheme, Liverpool, England, as a special member of the investment committee in September 2009 and played a central role in the establishment of USS Investment Management in October 2012, according to a news release. He retired in September.
Mr. Gillson was previously CIO of AXA Investment Managers from 1999 to 2004 and was CEO of Aerion Fund Management, the investment management arm of the National Grid PLC Group Pension Scheme, Coventry, England, from 2004 to 2010.
Survivors include his wife, Debi, and three children.
USS spokesman Andrew Fleming did not have further information by press time.
