Robert Sharpe on May 1 was named co-portfolio manager of the Heartland International Value Fund, managed by Heartland Advisors. Bill Nasgovitz, Heartland chairman and chief investment officer, is the fund's other portfolio manager.
Mr. Sharpe was international equities portfolio manager at the $64.3 billion Ohio State Teachers' Retirement System, Columbus. Nick Treneff, spokesman for the pension fund, could not be immediately reached for comment.
Separately, Will Nasgovitz has replaced his father, Bill Nasgovitz, as CEO of the value investment firm.
Bill Nasgovitz remains chairman and chief investment officer, and continues to be portfolio manager of the Heartland Value Fund, a mutual fund he co-managed with his son and Bradford Evans. Will Nasgovitz will no longer co-manage that fund but will remain portfolio manager of the Heartland Select Value Fund with Ted Baszler and David Fondrie.
The moves are “part of the firm's long-term succession plan,” said Cam Stephenson, vice president and director of marketing. The timing for any future changes are “not written in ink,” she added.
