Rashad Kaldany was named executive vice president, emerging markets, at Caisse de Depot et Placement du Quebec, Montreal, a spokesman confirmed.
It is a new position.
Mr. Kaldany will implement the C$185.9 billion (US$178 billion) Caisse's investment strategy in emerging markets and help build local partnerships to help Quebec companies capitalize on opportunities in emerging markets, according to a news release. He will report to Michael Sabia, president and CEO.
Caisse had a 5.7% allocation to emerging markets as of Dec. 31.
Mr. Kaldany was most recently chief operating officer at International Finance Corp., the financial arm of the World Bank Group.
