Richard A. Block received the Edward E. Burrows Distinguished Achievement Award in recognition of his exemplary dedication in promoting actuarial ethics, education and policymaking to enhance the professionalism of enrolled actuaries who serve within the private pension system.
Mr. Block, principal, Block Consulting Actuaries Inc., El Segundo, Calif., “has been a member of the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries for nearly three decades and played a key role in the founding of the College of Pension Actuaries, as well as its eventual merger with ASPPA in 2008,” according to an ASPPA statement.
Mr. Block was honored with the award Aug. 10 at the ACOPA's annual actuarial symposium in Chicago.
The award, presented annually since its creation in 2008, is named in tribute to the late Mr. Burrows, a founder of the College of Pension Actuaries, a past president of ASPPA, and a driver of the ASPPA's national retirement income policy on how the nation might address its retirement needs.
