Bas NieuweWeme was named managing director and head of institutional distribution at ING U.S. Investment Management.
Mr. NieuweWeme replaces Greg Tencza, who left in February. Mr. NieuweWeme, who reports to Shaun Mathews, executive vice president and head of the client group, will oversee all aspects of the institutional business, setting strategic direction across U.S. and international sales, consultant relations, RFPs, client service and relationship management.
Mr. NieuweWeme was previously senior vice president and head of institutional sales at ING U.S. Investment Management. Annette Bronkesh, a spokeswoman for the firm, said ING has no plans to fill the previous position. Mr. NieuweWeme will retain some of those duties, Ms. Bronkesh said.
ING U.S. Investment Management, a subsidiary of ING U.S. Inc., has about $190 billion in assets under management.
