John E. Young, CIO of the $50 billion Teacher Retirement System of Texas, Austin, for the past five years, resigned effective Sept. 25.
Mr. Young said he is considering several employment options and plans to remain in the investment business. ``I've had five good years here and felt like it was time for me to leave,'' he said.
Charles Dunlap, executive director, was unavailable for comment but a fund source said the CIO's position would be advertised nationally and a headhunter might be hired to screen candidates. An acting CIO is expected to be named next week.
