The $97 billion California Public Employees' Retirement System board, Sacramento, will interview seven of the 12 candidates named earlier in its search for active managers for its $7 billion currency overlay program. To be interviewed are Pareto Partners, BZW Barclays, NatWest Investment, BEA Associates, PanAgora Asset Management, State Street Global Advisors and Bridgewater Associates. The only passive currency overlay manager candidate, State Street Global Advisors, will also be interviewed.
Interviews are scheduled for May 16. Pareto and BEA are existing currency overlay managers for the fund. Three active and one passive manager are expected to be selected.
