W. Bruce Livingston left his position as CIO of the nearly $9 billion Massachusetts Pensions Reserve Investment Trust, Boston, to join John Hancock as director of client services, a newly created position in the mutual funds group. Mr. Livingston will head institutional client service efforts within Hancock mutual funds group. Susan Bishop, a company spokeswoman, said Mr. Livingston's appointment was part of Hancock's strategic positioning for an assault on the defined contribution plan marketplace, where Hancock has not had a significant presence to date.
