Trustees of the $50 billion New York State Teachers' Retirement System, Albany, authorized a search for the fund's first gatekeeper consultant for alternative investments, said spokesman Donald Blaha.
A gatekeeper consultant helps pension funds select and negotiate agreements with private equity partnerships. Many of the companies sponsor funds of funds or invest directly in alternative investments.
The RRP will go out in June, said Mr. Blaha.
