Barr Rosenberg, the well-known quantitative investment expert, is entering the mutual fund business. His firm, Rosenberg Institutional Equity Management, will advise three retail mutual funds: a U.S. small-cap stock fund, a Japan fund and an international small-cap fund.
Rosenberg had offered an institutional version of the U.S. small-cap and Japan funds since 1989 to institutional clients of his firm.
The fund family will be called Barr Rosenberg Mutual Funds and will be headed by Richard L. Saalfeld, formerly founder, chairman and CEO of CoreLink Resources Inc., a third-party marketer of mutual funds and other investment products through banks.
