David S. Pottruck has been named co-CEO of Charles Schwab, effective Jan. 1. Mr. Pottruck shares the position with Charles R. Schwab, the company's founder and chairman, who said in a statement that he intends to remain ``very active in the company.''
Mr. Pottruck now is president and COO. He will retain the title of president and will remain CEO of Charles Schwab & Co., the company's brokerage unit. He will continue to direct the company's financial, technology and administrative groups. Mr. Pottruck's job as COO of the parent company will remain unfilled.
Robert Ballou has been named director of marketing for PanAgora Asset Management.
Mr. Ballou formerly was sales and customer service director at Datastream until parent Primark Corp. acquired ICV, merging it with Datastream. Mr. Ballou succeeds Anthony Simpson, who left to join Mercury Asset Management as head of sales
