Richard J. Hayes has been named principal investment officer for the $140 billion California Public Employees' Retirement System's $7.3 billion alternative investment management progam. Mr. Hayes' position with the Sacramento-based fund is new. He previously was corporate director of customer base marketing and retention at AT&T Wireless Services.
Also, Harold F. Brown, investment officer in the alternative investment program, is leaving Sept. 8 to join ULLICO as vice president of private capital.This is a new position.
Brad Pacheco, a CalPERS spokesman, said the fund will launch a recruiting effort to replace Mr. Brown
