A lot of people are after Jim Perry's job -- a total of 141 people, to be exact.
Trustees for the Pennsylvania Public School Employees' Retirement System, Harrisburg, had anticipated between 50 and 60 resumes. They now are weeding through many more in hopes of replacing 28-year veteran Mr. Perry, said Joseph Oravitz, trustee.
Mr. Perry, who's been executive director for 14 years, plans to retire at the end of January. His replacement's salary likely will start at $130,000.
The personnel committee for the $40 billion fund has trimmed down the list of candidates. Interviews were done on Oct. 21 in a closed meeting of the committee. Specifics weren't released on how many candidates were interviewed. A final decision is expected at the trustees' meeting Nov. 6.
