ATLANTA - Peachtree Asset Management, Atlanta, does not plan to make any management changes after the death of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Lamond Godwin earlier this month.
For now, Dennis Johnson, president and chief investment officer will run the firm.
Peachtree, the asset management division of Smith Barney Solomon, specializes in large-cap growth strategies and has $2 billion in assets under management.
Mr. Godwin, who founded the firm, died of a heart attack Nov. 15.
Before starting Peachtree, Mr. Godwin held several positions at American Express Co., including senior director and first vice president of American Express Bank Ltd. and senior vice president of Shearson Lehman Brothers Inc.
In addition, he served in the Carter administration as a senior official of the Department of Labor. He has held teaching or research positions at the universities of Michigan, Texas and Illinois.
Mr. Godwin is survived by his wife, Thelma, and a son, daughter and son-in-law.
