Atmos Energy Corp., Dallas, switched its defined benefit plan to a cash balance plan, said Wynn McGregor, vice president of human resources.
The change became effective Jan. 1. Employees will be ``grandfathered'' into the newly structured $260 million plan, ensuring that benefits will remain the same for older employees, said Mr. McGregor.
Managers will remain the same. The switch to cash balance is part of the consolidation of acquired companies' pension plans.
