"Look for the union label" applies to more than clothes. Institutional Shareholder Services, Washington, which provides proxy voting services to institutional investors, held its annual conference in Loew's L'Enfant Plaza Hotel in Washington.
The Washington-based Council of Institutional Investors also held its spring convention there. The connection? It's a union hotel, and both organizations have large contingents of union members who would be upset if the meetings were held in non-union facilities, according to several attendees at the ISS meeting.
