Michael McCowan, CIO at the State of Wisconsin Investment Board, Madison, retired last week after running the $60 billion pension fund for the past three years. Vicki Hearing, spokeswoman for SWIB, said the board is studying the duties and the position before deciding how to fill it.
No one has been named acting CIO, nor has a search for a replacement begun.
