Highcrest Capital Partners is opening up its new special opportunities fund and making three "e-finance investments.
The firm, which is an affiliate of investment bank Putnam, Lovell, de Guardiola & Thornton, plans to make additional e-finance investments in the future.
So far, Highcrest has invested $15 million in three Internet-related companies: Codexa Corp., an online application service provider of software for trading and investment operations; Direct Capital Markets.com, an Internet-based information exchange for investors and emerging growth companies; and FITX Group, which is the parent company of HedgeWorld.
Jeffrey D. Lovell, chairman and CEO of Highcrest, sits on the board of Codexa and on the advisory board of Direct Capital Markets. James Minnick, president of Highcrest, also sits on the board of HedgeWorld. One pension fund, which Highcrest officials declined to name, invested in the fund.
