State of Connecticut Retirement & Trust Funds, Hartford, may increase its international equity weighting by $1.3 billion to 18% of assets from 12%. Connecticut State Treasurer Denise L. Nappier, who oversees $21.9 billion in pension assets, will recommend the change to the state investment advisory council at its May 11 meeting.
A study of the asset class by project consultant BARRA RogersCasey also recommends hiring a dedicated international small-cap manager for 10% of international portfolios and increasing emerging equities to 17% of international from 15%.
The system is conducting a performance review of every asset class and will look at fixed income next, Ms. Nappier said, and it is also considering starting a dedicated fund for managing short-term cash reserves.
