Auburn Gear Inc., Auburn, Ind., hired consultant DiMeo Schneider on retainer for its $13 million defined benefit plan, $10 million 401(k) plan, and two money purchase plans totaling $18 million, said Judy Tkacz, human resources manager. Buck Consultants had worked on individual projects for the fund, but Ms. Tkacz said Auburn opted not to sign a contract with the firm because it is not an ‘‘independent,’’ citing the consultant’s ties with various money managers.
DiMeo will conduct asset allocation studies for all four plans; no completion date has been set.
