Andy Curran was named CEO of savings and retirement for the U.K. and Europe and group director for Scotland at insurer Phoenix Group, a spokeswoman said.
Mr. Curran, who joins in July, will take over Susan McInnes' responsibilities in an expanded role, the spokeswoman confirmed. Ms. McInnes will retire as CEO of Standard Life Assurance and group director for Phoenix's open business later this year, said a news release Tuesday. Standard Life Assurance is a subsidiary of Phoenix Group.
Mr. Curran will lead the firm's open book insurance business and bulk purchase annuity growth strategy.
"In Andy, a fellow Scot, we have an excellent successor. He brings significant experience of the life and pensions sector and an exceptional track record of delivering value for customers and shareholders. He will lead Phoenix's open book and bulk purchase annuity growth strategy and enhance our position as a leader in the workplace market," Andy Briggs, CEO of Phoenix Group, said in the release.
Mr. Curran was managing director corporate at Aviva U.K. Insurance and wasn’t directly replaced, a spokeswoman said.
Phoenix Group's assets under administration are set to increase to £330 billion ($407 billion) when a deal to acquire rival insurer ReAssure Group completes in July.
