Jana Haines has been named head of index at MSCI.
Based in New York, Haines will be responsible for the "strategic development and execution of MSCI's global index product line" and will "partner with senior leaders across the firm to manage the index product development process," said a Nov. 30 news release.
Haines was chief strategy officer of ARK Investment Management, where she worked alongside CEO Cathie Wood.
ARK could not be immediately reached for information about her successor.
Before her tenure at ARK, Haines was employed at MSCI from 2006 to 2021. Her most recent prior position at MSCI was as managing director and head of index products, Americas and EMEA, and global head of fixed-income indexes.
