Leonard Green & Partners closed its flagship buyout fund Green Equity Investors VIII at $12 billion and inaugural middle-market buyout fund Jade Equity Investors at $2.75 billion.
Both funds closed at their hard caps and were oversubscribed, according to a news release Monday.
The manager's prior flagship buyout fund Green Equity Investors VII at $9.6 billion in 2016.
Investors in both Green Equity Investors VIII and Jade Equity Investors included the $388.9 billion California Public Employees' Retirement System, Sacramento, $139.6 billion Washington State Investment Board, Olympia; the $76.3 billion Ohio State Teachers' Retirement System, Columbus; the $54.1 billion Maryland State Retirement & Pension System, Baltimore; the $24.2 billion Los Angeles Fire & Police Pension System; and the $20.8 billion Louisiana Teachers' Retirement System, Baton Rouge.
Investors solely in Green Equity Investors VIII included the $154.6 billion Texas Teacher Retirement System, Austin, and the $99.5 billion Minnesota State Board of Investment, St. Paul.
