Amy Borrus will retire as executive director of the Council of Institutional Investors next spring, the group's board of directors announced Oct. 17.
Borrus has spent 17 years at CII, including the past three as executive director.
The board's search committee has started the process of selecting an executive recruitment firm to help identify candidates for Borrus' replacement, according to a news release.
"Serving as CII's executive director has been a privilege, a pleasure and the highlight of my professional life," Borrus said in the news release. "I am constantly inspired by the commitment of CII members to advancing corporate governance standards and practices that promote long-term shareowner value. I am grateful to our members for sharing their knowledge with me and for their rock-solid support of CII through the pandemic and beyond. And I thank the board for its warm and unstinting guidance."
CII is a nonprofit, nonpartisan association of U.S. asset owners, primarily pension funds, state and local entities charged with investing public assets, and endowments and foundations, with combined assets of $5 trillion.
