Publicly traded alternative firms’ private equity returns vary; private credit strong

KKR had the highest quarterly and one-year private equity returns through June 30 — 4% and 18.1%, respectively — among publicly traded alternative asset management firms. However, these returns trailed the S&P 500’s respective 4.3% and 24.6% quarterly and annual returns.

Ares Management trailed with a second-quarter return of 0.4% and a one-year return of 0.5%.

The seven publicly traded managers posted strong private credit returns. One-year returns ranged from KKR’s 12% to Ares' 20.5%.
