Private equity fundraising YTD increases more than 4% for large funds

Private equity fund closings of at least $1 billion totaled $233.5 billion for the first nine months of the year, based on data collected by Pensions & Investments. Buyout funds led with $145.2 billion.

This year's $233.5 billion of private equity fund closings compares with $223.6 billion for the first nine months of 2022. Buyout fund closings were $32 billion higher than the year-earlier period, and secondary funds were $32.5 billion vs. $7.5 billion. But other categories were lower than last year.
